Dégradation de 4E-BP en réponse à la fécondation chez l’oursin. Chez l’oursin, avant la fécondation, eIF4E est lié à 4E-BP. La fusion des gamètes active la kinase FRAP/mTOR : le répresseur 4E-BP est alors rapidement phosphorylé et dégradé. Après fécondation, eIF4E est disponible pour des partenaires, encore non identifiés, qui permettront de stimuler la synthèse protéique dépendante de la coiffe des ARNm.
