L’influence grandissante des neurosciences et des approches comportementales contribue à transformer les représentations et les pratiques de prise en charge des comportements agités chez l’enfant. En s’appropriant ces nouvelles orientations, l’Association française de parents d’enfants hyperactifs se bat pour faire reconnaître l’origine neurocognitive de l’hyperactivité et juge stigmatisantes et culpabilisantes les prises de position de certains professionnels. Elle participe à l’information et à l’aiguillage des familles vers les services qui prescrivent un psychostimulant. En cela, elle est un élément d’un système où médecins-chercheurs, laboratoires pharmaceutiques et militants légitiment réciproquement leurs actions.
Abstract
The growing influence of neurosciences and behaviour theories is involved in the transformation of the representations and care services for behaviour problems in childhood. Using such new orientations, the French associations of parents with hyperactive children fight for the recognition of the neurocognitive origin of their child’s condition and against professionals’ discourse which can make parents feel guilty. By helping families in their search for a diagnosis and promoting care treatments including the prescription of psycho-stimulating drugs, the association can be seen as a key element of a system where researchers/practitioners, drug companies and activists mutually legitimate their actions.
